SUPPORTS TO EARLY CHILDHOOD

PHILOSOPHY

Offering guidance, resources, support and education to caregivers and parents will promote the developmental and emotional well being of children and their families.

WHO WE ARE

The program provides support to caregivers to understand and address the special needs of children in the child care setting.

Support and training is also available on a classroom level. Guidance includes areas such as environment, planning, and proactive behaviour strategies. This will support the caregivers, as well as the children in their care.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

• Help child care providers to learn more about mental health issues in children, and to be able to know when a child is at risk and consultation is needed.

• Assist in planning strategies to support normal development for children at risk or those already showing signs of difficulty.

• Support child care providers through workshops, resources, and guidance.

SERVICES

• Assisting child care programs in screening the social-emotional development of the children in their care.

• Support and training for day care centres and family day home agencies for screening children in their care.

• Education, resources, and training for child care providers.

• Resource Kits that focus on children’s social and emotional development are available to all centres and day homes.

• Resource Binders & Resource packages for additional support and education.

• Lending Library for books, texts, and videos is available to all centres, day homes, and parents.
